Introduction to the study of the communication process, with special emphasis on internal processes experienced at individual, group, and organizational levels. Participants examine communication in different organizational contexts including civil society, government, business and transnational corporations. (Offered through distance education format only.)

An inquiry into the role of communication in global development. Emphasis is on the application of interpersonal, inter-cultural communication and the mass media in the development process. Prerequisite: 10.00 credits

An examination of learning principles, theories and practices. Emphasis is on communication for non-formal teaching-learning situations including participatory approaches to teaching and learning. Various approaches and contexts for educational communication are examined. Students develop community service learning projects that foster effective skills development in non-formal instructional design.

Leadership Development in Small Organizations (EDRD*4120DE)

The main theories of leadership are examined through exploration of the current literature and practice. Emphasis will be placed on the communication challenges facing leaders in small organizations and the importance of developing a culture of shared leadership. Prerequisite: 10.00 credits
